US to firmly enforce sanctions on Russia, Iran arms sale
The White House announced that the US would maintain its support for the Ukrainian people for however long it takes by firmly enforcing sanctions against the sale of arms by Russia and Iran.
At daily news conference on Monday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters that this would make it more difficult for Iran to export these weapons to Russia. She continued that there is ample evidence that Russia has used Iranian drones to target military and civilian objectives in Ukraine.
Make it harder for Iran to sell these weapons to Russia is what we’ll do from here, Jean-Pierre said. “And we’ll stand with our partners throughout the region against that Iranian threat. We’ll continue to vigorously enforce US sanctions on both the Russian and Iranian arms trade.”
In response to inquiries, she stated that National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan had issued a warning in July that Iran intended to supply Russia unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for use against Ukraine.
We also made it known to the public that Russia had purchased drones from Iran as part of a plan to acquire hundreds of different Iranian UAVs, and that Russian operators were still receiving training in Iran to operate these precise systems, according to the spokesperson.

There is substantial evidence that Russia used them against both military and civilian targets in that country (Ukraine),” she continued. According to Jean-Pierre, the National Security Advisor, the Department of Defense, and the Department of State are all in daily contact with Ukrainian officials on behalf of the US government.
