Why one should not be afraid of air turbulence? says Elon Musk

“People Should Never Fear Air Turbulence,” says Elon Musk. He explains why is that so. According to Elon Musk, commercial airliner wings can withstand incredibly strong forces and can bend to “insane amounts.” One of the things that makes some individuals decide to stop flying is air turbulence.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has outlined why air turbulence is not a huge concern and why passengers need never be afraid of it.

When a plane travels through colliding air masses moving at drastically different speeds, air turbulence occurs. Although it typically only produces a bumpy ride, it is nonetheless one of the factors that cause some people to stop taking flights.

Elon Musk claimed that one should not be afraid of turbulence because the plane is not likely to crash in response to a video showing airplane wings in turbulence. A commercial airliner’s wings can resist incredibly strong stresses and can bend to “crazy proportions,” he added.

Elon Musk is entirely correct in this case. The structure and wings of an airplane can typically withstand considerably more turbulence and forces than the human body can, thus those moving wings are not a problem, according to one user. “Everyone should watch a B-52 takeoff. Those wings have a greater than the three-foot range of motion. Impressive! Another person added.”
