Opponents trying to defame me through dirty videos: Imran Khan

PTI chief Imran Khan expressed his alarm that “thieves”, a nickname he used to refer to coalition government leaders, would release “offensive” videos of him using “deepfake” technology in an attempt to publicly defame. Speaking at a rally in Nankana Sahib, the former prime minister said political rivals have now resorted to faking videos of him using high-tech tricks to indict him with fake images in the video.

The head of the PTI appeared on high alert in the wake of a steady stream of audio leaks in which he and other senior party leaders would discuss the acclaimed “threat code” and tactics for strategizing the narrative surrounding the PTI.

Imran announced that his party would go to court to unmask those responsible for wiretapping in the Prime Minister’s cabinet. He said the purpose of knocking on the court’s doors is to find out which agency was involved in the recording of the conversations by the highest office in the country.

However, Imran sarcastically “thanked” the government for opening investigations into the cipher affair, saying the government’s investigative committee was interested.

“If an investigation is to be carried out, an independent judicial commission composed of non-controversial judges should be formed to investigate,” he said.

He added that he did not trust the government commission on the issue of encryption as they were part of the conspiracy. He then lamented the “malicious” treatment he received as if he were an enemy.
