Arrest warrants issued against Rana Sanaullah
A court in Rawalpindi on Saturday issued warrants for the arrest of Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah in a corruption case without bail.
The order, a copy of which is available on Dawn.com, was issued by Chief Civil Justice Court Ghulam Akbar. He said Sanaullah was named in a first information report (FIR) and that his arrest “is necessary in the matter so that warrants without bail can be issued against the accused”.
“The records show that the investigator’s allegation is genuine, therefore, in the interests of justice, this is accepted, and no bail warrant is issued accordingly for the accused, namely Rana Sanaullah,” the order reads.
The development has also been confirmed by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) of Punjab. “Arrest warrants were issued because Sanaullah did not show up in anti-corruption investigations despite being summoned multiple times,” a department spokesman told TAM.
Meanwhile, PTI said on its official Twitter account that a police team has left to arrest Sanaullah and will soon reach Kohsar police station.
“According to the rules, the process of arresting Rana Sanaullah will start with notifying the local police,” PTI added.
