Oath Keepers founder claims to have contact with Secret Service Agent

Federal prosecutors have invited John Zimmerman, a former member of Oath Keepers, to testify Thursday in the Rhodes trial and four others accused of seditious conspiracy in connection with the siege of the Capitol.

In his testimony, Zimmerman recalled how the Oath Keepers gathered weapons in preparation for the possibility that then-President Donald Trump would invoke the Insurrection Act, a move the group saw as a step to intervene and promote the peaceful transfer of power with the force.

A former member of the Oath Keepers spoke at the trial of Elmer Stewart Rhodes.
John Zimmerman recalled that the head of the Oath Keepers claimed to have contacts with the Secret Service. Rhodes called an unidentified person on the night of Jan. 6 to try to speak directly to Trump.
