Fog halts flights operations in Lahore

According to the local news media, thick fog affected airline operations at airports, rail departures, and traffic on highways and highways across the country on Thursday morning.

A number of aircraft were cancelled, others were delayed, and a few were diverted to other destinations at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, where the runway has been closed since 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night.

Due to thick fog, visibility on the airport’s runway was reduced to barely 50 metres, resulting in the cancellation of five flights and the rescheduling of 17 others.

Flights 607/608 from Lahore to Gilgit, 302/303 from Karachi to Lahore, and 186 from Sharjah were all cancelled by Pakistan International Airlines.

Flight PA-412, which was scheduled to depart at 12:00 midnight, will now depart at 12:00 noon. Flight PA-430, which was scheduled to depart at 12:30 a.m., will now depart at 12:00 p.m.

Qatar Airways flight QR-621, which was scheduled to depart at 3 a.m., has been rescheduled for 12:15 p.m.

The flight to Toronto, which was scheduled to depart at 7:15 a.m., will instead depart at 2:00 p.m.

Turkish Airways flight TK-715, which was scheduled to depart at 8:00 a.m., has been rescheduled until 6:00 p.m.

Flight BA-258, which was scheduled to depart at 9:00 a.m., will instead depart at 1:15 p.m.

Turkish Airlines flight TK-714, which was scheduled to arrive at 5:30 a.m., will now arrive at 4:14 p.m. at Lahore Airport.

Flight BA-257, which was scheduled to arrive at 7:00 a.m., will now arrive at 9:50 a.m.

The airlines administrations, according to sources, have informed passengers about the changes in flight operations.

The situation was similar at Sialkot International Airport, where the dense fog had thrown the flight schedule into disarray.

The flight of a private airline from Sharjah was 17 hours late. Al-Arabia flight G-17529 is now scheduled to arrive at 2:30 p.m. today.

The M2 highway was open for travel due to the clear weather. However, due to fog, the segment between Thokar Niaz Baig and Kot Momin has been closed. The motorway between Lahore and Sialkot was also closed.

From Faizpur to Darkhana, the M3 highway has been restricted to all types of traffic.

The M4 highway was closed between Pindi Bhattian and Abdul Hakeem, as well as between Shahkot and Abdul Hakeem. It was also closed due to traffic congestion between Sher Shah and Sham Kot.

From Multan to Sukkur, the M5 highway was closed to traffic.

The GT Road between Peshawar and Karachi was also congested due to strong fog that impaired visibility in some areas.
