The Sindh government has declared October 9 as a provincial holiday in observance of the 12th of Rabi’ul-Awwal.
The government announced on Wednesday that all offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under its administrative control will be closed on Thursday.
However, critical services and offices involved in the COVID-19 emergency will continue to operate.
The crescent of Rabi-ul-Awwal 1444 AH, the third month of the Islamic Lunar Year, was not sighted in Pakistan on September 26; therefore, the Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) would occur on October 9.
Monday evening, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, led by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, met in Quetta to observe the Rabi-ul-Awwal moon.
Following the meeting, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad announced that the moon for the month of Rabi-ul-Awwal had not been sighted throughout the country, so the new lunar month will begin on September 28 and the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal (Eid Milad-un-Nabi) will be celebrated on October 9.
