A beauty queen nicknamed Miss Crimea 2022 was fined 40,000 Russian rubles (about $ 680) for occupying Russian authorities for singing the Ukrainian patriotic song “Chervona Kalyna”, according to Russian state media and pro-Russian regional authorities.

Olga Valeeva was spared prison because she has minor children, Russian state news agency TASS reported Monday. A spokesperson for the Crimean Interior Ministry said in a video that it had identified an online video of “two girls singing a song which is the battle anthem of an extremist organization”.

He said the couple were arrested on suspicion of “committing illegal acts aimed at discrediting the deployment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as publicly displaying prohibited symbols”.

They were later found guilty by a court, the ministry said, and Valeeva’s girlfriend was sentenced to 10 days in jail. “Chervona Kalyna” is a patriotic Ukrainian song that went viral during the Russian invasion, and rock band Pink Floyd released a cover version
