Pakistan Railways increases train fares

According to local media, the Pakistan Railways announced a rise in the fares for some trains, including the Khyber Mail, Karakoram Express, and Rehman Baba Express.

The Ministry of Railways has announced that the fares for Khyber Mail’s AC Sleeper class between Karachi and Peshawar have increased to Rs. 11,00, AC Business class to Rs. 6,200, and AC Standard Class to Rs. 5,700.

The notification states that the economy class cost on the Karakoram Express for the route between Karachi and Lahore has been raised to Rs3,000. The Karachi Express’s AC sleeper fare has also gone up to Rs 9,000, AC business to Rs 5,700, AC standard to Rs 4,150, and economy fare to Rs 3.

Rehman Baba Express’s AC business class fare has increased to Rs7,000, its AC standard fare to Rs5,000, and its economy class fare to Rs3,000. Pakistan Business Express’s AC business class price has increased to Rs7,000. Pakistan Railways will resume operating between Karachi and Lahore on October 5.

After being halted on August 26 due to severe floods in Sindh region, Pakistan Railways decided to resume passenger trains to Karachi on October 2. According to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Railways, the department has sustained significant infrastructure damages as a result of the nation’s disastrous floods.
