An American hunts Markhor for Rs 20million.
Despite the fact that Markhor hunting is prohibited by the Wild Life, the Pakistani authorities permitted the first Markhor hunting of the year against a license sold for almost Rs20 million.
On Wednesday, wildlife officials announced that Michael Joseph, an American national, shot the endangered Markhor for the first time this year.
The wild animal that was hunted was 9 years old and stood 43 inches tall.
They stated that the American hunter paid roughly Rs20 million for the right to shoot it.
Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India are home to the endangered flare-horned and straight-horned Markhors.
Their numbers are quickly dwindling because of habitat destruction, overhunting for meat and even trophies/laurels, and cattle competition.
A Markhor stands 37-40 inches tall and has horns that can reach 63 inches in length.
