Samina Shah requests for pre-arrest bail in Sarah’s murder case
Samina Shah, wife of journalist Ayaz Amir, filed a petition with the Islamabad Session and District Court on Monday asking for pre-arrest bail in connection with the murder of her daughter-in-law.
The 37-year-old victim, identified as Sara Bibi, is suspected of being murdered by her husband Shahnawaz, son of Ayaz Amir and Samina Shah. According to sources, Thursday night Sara and Shahnawaz had an altercation over a domestic matter that led to her death, after the accused hit her in the head with an iron barbell.
After killing his wife, sources revealed, her suspect put her body in a bathtub. Police arrested the suspect and took him to Chak Shahzad Police Station for further investigation.
Sources said Chak Shahzad City Police later named Ayaz Amir in the case. They had said that in light of Shahnawaz’s interrogation on Saturday, the police had received the arrest warrant for Ayaz Amir from the local magistrate.
A court in Islamabad on Sunday granted journalist Ayaz Amir one day in pre-trial detention. Samina Shah today said in her bail application, filed by her lawyer Hasnat Gul, that Sara’s uncle and aunt named her name.
The application further adds that Samina has lived on the farm where the crime was committed. Later, Shahnawaz phoned Amir at 9:12 a.m. When the murder had already been committed,” Samina claimed.

“Shahnawaz was asked to sit in the room,” the motion adds, “by which time his father, Ayaz Amir, had already called the police. After that, the Islamabad police arrived at the scene within minutes.”
The motion alleged that Samina Shah had “nothing to do with the incident” and was not an eyewitness to the crime. It added that the defendant was suffering from health problems and requested bail be granted prior to arrest.
