Number of suspects in Sialkot lynching case rise to 52

The number of primary suspects arrested in the Sialkot lynching case of a Sri Lankan national has grown to 52 after the police transported another 18 prime accused to Lahore for forensic examination.

According to reports, the police have already conducted forensics on 34 primary suspects in the horrific Sialkot lynching of a foreigner who worked as an export manager in a Sialkot sports goods plant.

On Tuesday, the authorities detained another 18 significant suspects and sent them to Lahore for forensic examination.

In this case, the police have arrested over 100 persons so far.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Gujranwala ordered physical remand to 18 people suspected of lynching. The accused were taken in by Punjab police under heavy security precautions.

The event was brought to the attention of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, who urged police authorities to expedite the inquiry in order to bring the perpetrators to justice.

A mob mercilessly murdered Priyantha Kumara on the grounds that he tore a religious poster from the factory’s wall. His body was eventually carried down the street and burned on fire by a mob, drawing widespread outrage.
