New IT Park to introduce job opportunities for IT experts
The information technology park will provide job opportunities for around 15,000 IT experts, students and industry-related professionals after its completion.
Park’s foundation stone was laid on Chak Shahzad on May 6 by IT and Telecommunications Minister Syed Amin Ul Haque, who aimed to realize Digital Pakistan Vision. An official from the Ministry of Information Technology said the project would be completed in 30 months with a total cost of 13.72 billion rupees.
The park would not only alleviate the shortage of infrastructure for the IT sector, but also facilitate technology transfer through links between industry and academia, support the commercialization of technology, connect higher education and production, to promote research and development; in addition to improving IT exports and industry competitiveness.
IT Park Islamabad would consist of a twelve-storey (two basement or ground floor plus 10 storey) self-contained building with a covered area of 66,893 square meters.
The IT Park will be developed with state-of-the-art infrastructure and related facilities for IT companies with financial support from Exim Bank, Korea, he added. He said a similar type of IT park will soon be established in Karachi.
Islamabad IT Park initially provided office space for around 120 startups and small and medium enterprises and other ancillary facilities such as test labs, classrooms, industry-academy liaison center and auditorium, etc.
The computer park will not only help to reduce the infrastructure constraints of the computer sector but will also help to enable technology transfer through cooperation between universities and industry, support the commercialization of technologies, promote research and development and promote an economy to create value.

It will improve IT exports and industrial competitiveness while attracting direct federal investments in the IT sector. During the construction phase, it will directly and indirectly employ more than 5,000 people. When completed, it will create another 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.
