WAPDA: Production in Dasu power project to begin in 2026
Chairman of the Water and Power Development Authority retired Lt. Gen Sajjad Ghani said that the Dasu power project to begin production in 2026.He said this during his visit to the site of Dasu hydropower project in Upper Kohistan district.
“Efforts are under way to complete the diversion of Indus River by next April and if that happens, power generation by Dasu project will begin by November 2026”, Mr. Ghani told a ceremony at the project site.
The Chairman of WAPDA was accompanied by the Wapda member (water) and Hazara commissioner, the Wapda chairman examined work on diversion tunnels, main access tunnel, powerhouse cavern, access road, housing colony and contractor`s camp.
Dasu project general manager Anwarul Haq said work had resumed on nine sites after the receding of floodwaters and concerted efforts were being made to ensure the river`s diversion by April 2023 to start work on the main dam.

He said the project would be completed in two stages with the first generating 12 billion power units and the second nine billion units annually.
