VC Gomal University seeks security after threats by PTI’s leader
The Vice-Chancellor of Gomal University Prof Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed seeks security from Police as Ex-Federal Minister Ali Amin allegedly hurtling threats and also registered FIR against the PTI Leader.
The administration of Gomal University has also notified on Tuesday closure of the varsity for an indefinite period to avert any unpleasant event amid students protest.
Gomal University has been closed after the university syndicate approved the decision in view of mounting escalation in the wake of protests at the campus.
The Syndicate in its 121st meeting, held on 13/9/2022 agreed upon the decision to be taken in line with maintaining law and order across the varsity campus unless the matters are resolved absolutely.
Meanwhile, the Chancellor and Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has warned the incumbent Vice Chancellor of Gomal university Professor Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad that implementation regarding assets distribution between the newly established Agriculture University Dera Ismail Khan and Gomal University be ensured promptly.
The Governor’s rebuke came following VC Gomal University under the subject “Situation Alert ” dispatched correspondence to the Governor, reportedly which invited rage from the former.
The Acting Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has castigated the management of the Gomal University for lingering the liabilities entrusted by a committee constituted by the Provincial Cabinet in its 52nd meeting on 16.3.2021 which was duly notified by the Agriculture Department of Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vide NO SO AII(QAD)4(66)/2020/Vol-21 dated 16.4.2021.
The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa giving a deadline by 15.9.2022 for the fulfillment/implementation of the assets distribution between the public sector universities has warned that failure to this effect might be a reason for serious consequences in near future.
It is mentioned that the former Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan Affairs, according to a private TV Channel, came down hard upon the sitting VC Professor Iftikhar Ahmad for what he described as his failure to resolve the issue of assets distribution.
Meanwhile, the VC Professor Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad while requesting for security, wrote a letter vide 1757/VC/GU dated 12.09.2022. to the District Department of the police to lodge an FIR against former Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Ali Amin Gandapur, who allegedly hurled threats on him.

It is mentioned that in the wake of ongoing worsening law and order on the main campus of the Gomal University, district police have deployed special contingents of the police. A press note issued by the district police department DPO Capt (retd) Najm-ul-Hasnain Liaquat in close coordination with DSP Paroa Circle Kashif Sattar and SHO University Police Station was watching the situation so as to avert any law-and-order situation.
The police department has warned that all possible efforts would be made for the maintenance of peace, and no one be allowed to take law in hand. Also, a heavy contingent of police is deployed inside the Gomal University to face any unpleasant event.
It merits a mention that the varsity has been in the grip of protests and chaos for the last one month.
