Floods: “Digital Flood Dashboard” a step to bring transparency in aid relief
A “digital flood dashboard” have been officially launched today on instructions from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to ensure transparency on flood aid and its distribution system.
An announcement to this effect was made at a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister. The meeting discussed in detail the ongoing rescue and relief efforts in the flood-affected areas.
The digital flood dashboard will provide the general public with direct information on financial aid and relief supplies received and distributed at global, state and provincial levels among those affected by the floods, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a press release.
In addition, the public and the media would be kept informed of the aid measures in order to ensure the transparency of the ongoing processes. The Prime Minister would personally monitor the digital dashboard as he promised the international community and the nation that emergency aid to flood victims would be channeled seamlessly. The introduction of this dashboard would be a step in this regard.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister also reviewed the restoration of life activities in the flood-affected areas and ordered the acceleration of the rehabilitation of roads, bridges, power supply and other relief efforts. He also ordered that the supply of essential goods, including food, be ensured in the areas affected by the floods.
While emphasizing collective mechanisms and cooperation with provincial governments, the prime minister stressed the need to quickly repair roads and formulate a comprehensive strategy to solve other problems facing provinces. It is worth mentioning here that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the audit of financial aid received for flood victims will be carried out by AGPR and the world renowned transparency auditing firm.
