Which phone is superior, iOS or Android? This never-ending argument has been discussed numerous times. The topic of discussion has now shifted to Islamabad’s political elite. What phone does our Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif use as the query being asked on social media?

A video of the Premier chatting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was shared earlier in the day by the PM’s focal point for digital media, Muhammad Abubakar Umer. They both went to Sindh’s flood-affected areas.

PM Shehbaz pulled out what appears to be an iPhone 7 in the video.

The phone’s model is also mentioned by Abubakar in the caption. “PM Shehbaz doesn’t typically carry or use his mobile phone in public,” he claimed. It’s likely the first time he’s ever taken out his phone in the middle of a meeting to show the UN Secretary-General a video about a flood, and guess what? It isn’t an iPhone 14, not even an X or a 9. It resembles the iPhone 7 more.

When questioned Abubakar why the PM didn’t upgrade his phone, he responded, “He [PM Shehbaz] uses the phone only for necessary functions and not for entertainment or luxury. He would use a phone as long as it could be used for calls, texts, and occasionally video messages in addition to calls.”

The focal person further revealed that when he met PM Shehbaz back in 2011 he [PM] was carrying a phone that “looked like Nokia 3310”. He added that it was a pretty “basic” phone.
