Islamabad: Leaders dialogue on “Pakistan: The Next Great Infrastructure Connector”, held on August 25, 2022, in Islamabad on Thursday organized by the Nutshell group. The event featured an impressive line-up of esteemed experts from the banking, economics, public policy, digital transformation, and national security as well as leaders from the corporate sector, government, and diplomatic communities From across Pakistan. The speakers shared insights on unlocking Pakistan’s potential and discussed topics centered on regional connectivity, security, energy, and trade.
Welcome address was given by Muhammad Azfar Ahsan: Founder Nutshell group and corporate Pakistan group, Ex-minister of state and chairman board of investment. Distinguish guests from different fields grace the occasion where dr Moeed Yousuf-Ex National Security Advisor of Pakistan in Imran Khan’s tenure, Dr. Shamshad Akhter Chairperson Stock exchange of Pakistan and Ex-governer SBP, Ex-Ambassador to USA Ali Jahangir Siddiqui, Ghias khan, President overseas investors chamber of commerce and industry(OICCI), Senator Dr. Musadik Malik, minister of state for petroleum and air chief marshal Sohail Awan(Rtd), chief executive strategic engagement, nutshell group and Pakistan’s chief of air staff(2015-2018), and Mosharraf Zaidi was the moderator. The event was digitally covered by Imran Ghazali, Ex-GM DMW in Imran khan’s tenure and team.
Ex Ambassador, Ali Jahangir Siddiqui while talking about “Pakistan- the next great infrastructure connector” said that Many countries have capitalized on their geostrategic location. Pakistan’s geostrategic location and the advancements it has made in its domestic infrastructure can serve as building blocks for the development of the country into a regional transit hub for energy, trade, and digital communications.
CEO and Chairman Mobilink microfinance bank while speaking on “Digital connectivity” said that Infrastructure is not just roads, hospitals, and schools; it’s also digital connectivity. And telecom is not just a sector as we have traditionally looked at it, it is a sector of sectors. It will enable education, health, banking, and commerce.
Dr. Shamshad Akhter while talking about “sustainable financial layout through regional connectivity” said, Cross border connectivity and peace are intrinsically prerequisites for each other. Connectivity promotes peace but needs peace to stay strong. Connectivity and collaboration are the foundations for regional economic growth.
Dr. Senator Musadik Malik while speaking on “regional connectivity –an opportunity for energy and trade” said that countries don’t grow in isolation; rather regions grow together like ASEAN, NAFTA, and GCC. The closing remarks were given by air chief marshal Sohil Aman(Rtd) and then shields were distributed among panelists.
It was such an honor for me to finally meet my favorite personalities and attend a start-studded conference on such an air important topic. I learned a lot from the dialogue along with my cousin we were left flabbergasted by the humbleness of My Favorite personality Dr. Moeed Yosuf and the Military secretary of former PM Imran Khan.
