“Right Thing Rather Than Right Wing”: Shashi Tharoor Praises Ex Colleague
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor today praised his former colleague and BJP leader Khushbu Sundar for her tweet criticizing the early release of Bilkin Bano case convicts, a rare compliment for another party’s leader.
The Gujarat government granted early release to all eleven convicts facing life in prison in the Bilkis Bano gangrape case earlier this month. Ms Sundar called the move, which was widely condemned by opposition parties, an “insult to humankind and womanhood.”

Mr Tharoor praised the BJP leader, saying he is proud to see him stand up for the “right thing, rather than the right wing.”

“A woman who is raped, assaulted, brutalised and her soul scarred for life must get justice. No man who has been involved in it should go free. If he does so, it’s an insult to humankind and womanhood. #BilkisBano or any woman, needs support, beyond politics n ideologies. Period,” Ms Sundar had said in her tweet.
