Mohammad Hasnain, 22, has been named as a replacement for the injured fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi in Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup T20 tournament, which will be held in the UAE from August 27 to September 11.
The fast bowler has represented Pakistan in 18 T20Is, taking 17 wickets. Hasnain will join the team from the United Kingdom, where he is competing for Oval Invincibles in The Hundred.
Meanwhile, the squad’s other members, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Usman Qadir, will depart for Dubai from Lahore in the early hours of Tuesday. They will take the place of Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Haris, Salman Ali Agha, and Zahid Mehmood, who were all part of the 16-man ODI squad that played the Netherlands.
Pakistan will play India in their first Group A match on Sunday, 28 August, before facing a qualifier (UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, or Hong Kong) in Sharjah on Friday, 2 September. The Super Four matches will take place from September 3 to September 9.
