Making TikTok videos at public places on Independence Day banned

On Friday, the Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) issued orders prohibiting people from making TikTok videos in public places in Punjab on August 14.

“On Independence Day, social media activists should not be permitted to film videos in public places for no apparent reason.” The IGP directed that “police should keep a close eye on certain elements both inside and outside parks and recreational areas.”

“Strict security measures should be put in place at historic sites and busy areas,” he added.

It should be noted that the police were heavily chastised after a woman was harassed and molested in Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park on August 14, last year.

Several police officers, including the DIG Operations, SSP, and SP, were demoted.

In light of the unfortunate incident last year, orders have been issued for the entire state of Punjab.
