An important announcement from Mark Zuckerberg was made on Facebook about the development of three new privacy features for WhatsApp: control over who can see when you’re online on WhatsApp and prevention of screenshots in messages that have already been viewed.
As part of this new global campaign, WhatsApp is launching in India and the United Kingdom to inform users about new features and how WhatsApp secures their experience by using different layers of protections, such as end-to-end encryption, and two-step verification, end-to-end encrypted chat backup, and more.
Additionally, their campaign is aimed at educating people about the importance of real security: protecting users not only when they send information but also when they keep it (for example, by using end-to-end encrypted backups).
