Since its foundation in 1993, the faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FCS&E) at GIK Institute has been dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in computer science and related fields.
The graduates of FCSE have met the demands of the Pakistani and international software industries, and several alumni from previous undergraduate batches are now in senior management positions in prominent Pakistani and foreign software firms and continue to make the faculty and institution proud.
Since its inception, the area of Cyber Security (CyS) has played a critical role in both commercial and national security, serving as the backbone of many automated procedures. Our everyday lives will soon be dominated by it, according to forecasts.
There are now CyS-based devices in everything we use, from cell phones to air conditioners and refrigerators to vehicles and aeroplanes, and it has been widely adopted. To put it simply, CyS is not only making a positive impact on our lives, but on the economy of many nations throughout the world.
Dr. Arif-ur-Rehman Alvi, Pakistan’s honourable president, has been urging and encouraging higher education institutes to take up emerging fields like Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Cyber Security, and Block Chain at undergraduate and diploma levels through his initiative (Presidential Initiative for Artificial Intelligence and Computing – PIAIC).
As a result, Pakistan’s economy is expected to benefit greatly from Cyber Security, which is expected to become a multi-billion dollar business in the near future.
First students will be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Cyber Security (CyS) programme by Fall 2022 in accordance with FCSE’s heritage of pursuing cutting-edge trends and methodologies as well as anticipating the future needs of industry.
Rector GIK Institute, Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid and his FCS&E team have been working tirelessly to achieve the strict deadlines for the programme to begin by Fall 2022 under the leadership and supervision of Rector Khalid. At a recent curriculum meeting, the NCEAC at HEC completed the BS Cyber Security program’s curriculum.
NCEAC’s BS in Cyber Security curriculum will serve as a guide for GIK Institute’s BS programme in Cyber Security’s structure and content.
GIK Institute’s B.S. in Cyber Security programme focuses on the following areas:
Digital Investigations and Forensics Emergency Preparedness and Response to Network Security and Vulnerabilities
