On the ninth and tenth of Muharram, the Punjab government banned pillion riding throughout the province.
On Sunday, a meeting was led by the Chief Minister of Punjab, Ch Pervaiz Elahi. The meeting approved a foolproof Ashura security plan.
On the ninth and tenth of Muharram, pillion riding will be prohibited in the state of Punjab. During these two days, it has also been decided to suspend mobile service along the routes of Muharram processions.
Elahi instructed the provincial ministers and special assistants to independently oversee the Muharram security arrangements.
At the request of the inspector general of police, the Sindh government banned pillion riding province-wide for seven days, from the 6th to the 12th of Muharram, including the provincial capital Karachi, on Friday (IGP).
According to a notification from the Sindh government, the ban will not apply to journalists, people with disabilities, the elderly, women, security personnel, or children.
Saturday, the administration of Islamabad implemented Section 144 in the federal capital, prohibiting pillion riding on the ninth and tenth of Muharram.
The Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad stated that lawbreakers would be punished severely. The DC urged individuals to cooperate with the administration and police of Islamabad.
