Ex-Deputy Attorney General Peshawar High Court and Well-known Political and Social Activist Malik Haroon Awan Advocate has said that the dummy Consumer Committee of the local administration will be challenged in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) D I Khan Bench soon.
He said this while talking to The Asian Mirror at his office in District Kuchhari while giving details about the challenge in the Peshawar High Court against the consumer committee formed by the local administration.
He said that for the last 20 years, the Dera Consumers Association has been working to protect the rights of consumers, but recently the local administration has formed a consumer committee vide letter No. 639/DC(PS) dated 14-07-2022, we not only reject but will challenge this dummy and fictitious committee in Peshawar High Court Dera Bench soon.
Malik Haroon Awan said the case had been referred to the legal experts, after completing all the preliminary legal steps, a writ petition will be filed under the rights under Article 199 of the Constitution of Pakistan and the team of renowned jurist Anwar Khan Awan, Advocate Supreme Court is working by reviewing legal notices and other issues.
Mr. Haroon Awan said the Deputy Commissioner appoints the consumer committee members, if his favorites are part of the consumer society, he will care about his nominees more than public rights. There is no law in this regard under which the Deputy Commissioner appoints the Consumer Society members, it is a public platform which is associated with the Consumer Rights Commission of Pakistan (CRCOP).
He demanded the district administration should withdraw the order of the proposed dummy committee. He said we are trying to fulfill public rights and duties in rural areas while staying within the limits of law.
