My behavior was unacceptable: Will Smith apologizes to Chris Rock over slapgate

Months after slapping Academy Awards host Chris Rock during the ceremony, Will Smith apologized to the comedian in a video posted to his Instagram account.

“Please accept my apologies. “My behavior was unacceptable, and I’m willing to discuss when you’re ready,” Smith says in a roughly six-minute video.

Smith stated in the video that he has contacted Chris Rock. “However, the word that came back is that he is not yet ready to chat, and when he is, he will reach out,” he explained.

At this year’s Oscars, Chris Rock took the stage to present an award, and he joked about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, being in “G.I. Jane” because of her shaved head. Pinkett Smith has a disorder known as alopecia.

Smith was upset by Chris Rock’s statements, and he came up to the stage and smacked Rock before returning to his seat, saying, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f*****g mouth!”
