Anti-Corruption Court releases Haleem Adil Sheikh

An Anti-Corruption Court (ACC) in Karachi on Thursday ordered the release of Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh in a fraudulent property documents case.

According to information, an anti-corruption court has ordered the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Haleem Adil Sheikh in a property transaction case in Karachi’s Malir area.

The court also ordered the Sindh Opposition Leader to post a Rs50,000 surety bond.

It is worth noting that Haleem Adil Sheikh went to an anti-corruption court in Jamshoro yesterday, but the ACE squad apprehended him outside the building.

The anti-corruption establishment (ACE) squad later relocated Haleem Adil Sheikh to Karachi and filed a land case against him.

On Wednesday, the ACE team transferred him to the Aziz Bhatti police station in Karachi. The ACE  Previously, Haleem went before the provincial anti-corruption court to defend himself against claims of obtaining a bank loan using forged property documents.

Earlier in the hearing, Haleem’s counsel, Advocate Javed Altaf, claimed that the Sindh High Court had prevented the police from arresting Haleem Adil Shaikh. He insisted that the matter was 33 years old and that it was simply political victimisation.

On the other side, the Sindh High Court has issued notifications to the Chief Secretary and Anti-Corruption officers in response to Haleem Adil Sheikh’s contempt of court petition, requesting a response by August 4.
