KARACHI: A police officer was detained on Monday in Karachi’s Orangi Town No 5 for killing a youth in a ‘false’ encounter, The Asian Mirror reported.
Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act were used to file the FIR against the Karachi cop.
According to authorities, the accused cop also failed to persuade investigators of his motive in the encounter with a 20-year-old Karachi youngster.
The deceased was the son of a Karachi Dumpers Association official.
In an alleged encounter case, the SSP has also suspended SHO Orangi Azam Gopang from his duty.
DIG West Nasir Aftab told ARY News that an investigation committee has been created to look into an alleged police encounter in Karachi’s Orangi Town.
Meanwhile, outside Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, a huge number of family members and friends of a victim who was murdered in a purported police encounter held a sit-in.
Two alleged bandits were slain in a police encounter in the New Karachi region on Monday, according to another incident reported earlier today.
According to reports, a shootout with five criminals on motorcycles occurred near Mangal Bazar in the area.
When the patrolling police party got to the location, the thieves were looting the valuables in the area, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Weste, Nasir Aftab. When the robbers saw the police, they opened fire in retaliation, and two of them were shot dead on the spot, while one was arrested in an injured state.
