The Pakistani Army announced on Monday that two of its aviation pilots were killed when their military helicopter crashed in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, near the Siachen region.
According to the Army, both pilots were killed in the crash, and search and rescue helicopters as well as army forces were dispatched to the scene.
The cause of the mishap remained unknown at the time. Pakistan and India have been stationing soldiers in the region since the 1980s, making it one of the world’s highest battlefields.
A Pakistani Army Aviation chopper crashed in late December last year while performing safety evacuations in the region due to a mechanical failure. Four military men were killed in the incident at the time. —PTI
