Heart disease is a lethal disease that is the world’s number one killer. It is responsible for a myriad of premature deaths. The incidence of heart diseases is steadily increasing year by year, 23.6 million people are predicted to die from cardiovascular diseases in 2030. At least 12 Pakistanis die every hour due to a heart attack while more than one-third (34pc) of all deaths in Pakistan are caused by cardiovascular diseases. It is found in research that 42 percent of those do not even know they have high blood pressure, which leads to strokes and kidney disease, and these conditions are causes of the high rate of heart attacks and killing 400,000 innocent Pakistanis annually which is extremely horrible.
These statistics were shared by Prof Faisal Ahmed during a public awareness seminar. This seminar raised awareness of maintaining good heart health. He provided numerous tips for improving their heart health by sharing information about heart conditions and helping people live longer.
Focusing on cardiovascular diseases in Pakistan, Prof Faisal Ahmed said: “About 25 percent of adult Pakistanis have diabetes. Obesity is also on the rise, with 20 percent of Pakistanis being obese or overweight (Intense obesity leads to structural and functional changes of the heart, which causes heart failure)
Prof Faisal further said that prevention is better than cure, but we do not pay attention to it. He asserted that cardiovascular disease in Pakistan and across the world is spreading although it can often be treated, abstaining is the best way of protecting themselves.
Lack of social interaction with family and friends can lead to heart disease. Moreover, do not overlook common symptoms like chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, indigestion, and heartburn. In addition, Don’t forget to monitor vitals like blood pressure and blood sugar regularly, Checking is mandatory if you have underlying health conditions like heart disease, heart failure, diabetes, high blood pressure, or obesity.
He suggested that eating fresh fruits and vegetables can be useful for us. Further, We must not spend much time watching TV and using smartphones or computers. Besides this, we ought to sleep for at least 8 hours for good health. According to Professor Faisal, Walking and gardening can be beneficial for us. Apart from it, we have to avoid smoking because it is very harmful to every individual.
The government of Pakistan to conduct more and more public seminars and programs in order to give precautions and awareness about heart disease. Government should take stern steps so that we can save thousands of lives.
