Transgender rights are human rights

The cruel society has given many names to the transgender community, such as Khawaja sara, khusra, hijhra, kiner, etc to ridicule them. They always face discrimination, physical assault, harassment, and bullying from the cradle to the grave as they are aliens and don’t have any right to live on this planet. We just outcast them at the time of their birth. We all are living in gender supremacy while degrading the trans community. It is quite notable that this indistinct behavior came from where. Due to our ignorance or biases, we hate the weaker ones who can’t stand for their rights.

Our government failed to establish a proper school system or curriculum to empower this community for the last seventy-six years. They are vulnerable in every circumstance, whether joining educational institutions, seeking medical assistance, acquiring jobs, or starting businesses.

Transgender are humans, they deserve all the respect, and we need to understand their pain and what it is meant to be deprived of. We need to say with one voice that transgender people are valued, loved, and have all the right to be treated fairly and with equality.

The solution to all types of mistreatment faced by the community of transgender is to accept society as productive citizens. The government and civil society organizations must run awareness campaigns for social acceptance and implement the Transgender Protection Rights Bill 2017 in Pakistan. Education is the greatest weapon to bring any change. Endless efforts need to be made to break the chains of cultural and social hatred, and taboos against them.

The state and society both need to be flexible in giving equal opportunities in education, health sector, social rights, vocational training, and jobs, so they don’t spend their whole lives in poverty and disrespect that may lead to crimes or suicidal attempts.
