Punjab University inaugurates Babur Legacy Centre

“Babur Legacy Centre” is recently inaugurated in the Department of History and Pakistan Studies at the University of the Punjab, Quaid-e-Azam Campus, Lahore.

The Centre is strongly committed to reinforcing ties among Pakistan and Asian States. The rationale and a firm resolve behind its creation are to preserve Mughal Heritage and promote research on Mughals in general, and exclusively on Zaheer-Ud-Din Babur. The Centre primarily aims at inviting researchers and scholars for the sake of probing and research on Medieval History in Pakistan.

It is determined to strengthen Student Exchange Programs along with the study of the Mughal Empire, which will enhance the insights and comprehension of the young scholars regarding the diversity, great ideas and phenomenal creativity which remains to be another key objective of The Centre.

Babur Legacy Centre has been established as the contemporary era calls for a dire change in the former model of Foreign Policy. Babar’s legacy is still applicable and relevant at present as Nations learn lessons from history and always take pride in their cultural heritage.

Additionally, this Centre will prove to be highly assistive in extending and invigorating bilateral relations with Uzbekistan owing to  Babur being the National Hero of Uzbekistan and the founder of The Mughal Empire too in India, in 1526. By the formation of this Centre, Uzbekistan is firm about promoting our shared legacy.

Besides, The Centre courteously welcomes the students, researchers and analysts with regard to the “Babur Legacy”. The Department of History has generated a team in order to run The Centre that is collaborating with CGSS Islamabad and looks forward to developing a proper centre with the assistance of HEC and Uzbekistan.

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Punjab has appointed Professor Doctor Rukhsana Iftikhar to look after the office of the Director, Babur Legacy Centre, Department of History & Pakistan Studies.
