PEMRA ought to take measures to prevent the sacrilege of the holy month of Ramadan on TV channels. Ramadan is a month of the infinite blessings and benedictions of Allah (SWT), however, for the last few years, TV channels have, condemnably, been promoting vulgarity and deviations in the name of special Ramadan transmissions. It is imperative for PEMRA to make all TV channels obligated by a code of conduct and only allow such personalities that have authentic knowledge and scholarship of the religion to participate in programs of special Ramadan transmissions. Indecent and enticing advertisements and programs must be banned during Ramadan, including the blessed moments of Sehr and Iftar. The fact of the matter is that broadcasting content that is un-Islamic and in violation of the Shariah is tantamount to open rebellion against the commandments of Allah and His Messenger (PBUH), especially in an Islamic ideological country like Pakistan. It is essential for us to seek Allah’s forgiveness at the individual and collective levels, and while benefitting from the infinite blessings and benedictions of the holy month of Ramadan, resolve that we would make Pakistan a genuine Islamic welfare state so that we could become eligible for the pleasure of Allah and salvation in the Hereafter.
