Media war over Ukraine-Russia crisis

Hijab controversy

Ever since the skirmish between Ukraine and Russia cropped up, the western media is on the hop projecting the crisis deep down to instigate war-like feelings. Even though both the presidents of respected countries, Putin and Zelensky, confirmed that they are not in favour of any war, the CIA-backed media groups including CNN, The Washington Post and Fox News are still perpetually creating hype amid this bit of argy-bargy through their so-called scholars sitting on televisions and further intensifying the situation as if Russia has started invaded Ukraine. Although president Zelensky has recently asked the western powers to put sanctions on Russia before it invades their country, this reservation seems to come because of Ukraine’s wish to become a NATO ally which Russia has opposed. But the main question that needs to be raised is that should media report such a sensitive issue in such a careless way? This role of media escalating an international issue must be condemned at high levels. A great organic intellectual of our times Professor Noam Chomsky writes in his book Manufacturing Consent: The Political Economy of Mass Media that, “Propaganda campaigns, in general, have been closely attuned to elite interests.” In our recent history, during the cold war, media played a very negative role in spreading false narratives to serve the interests of imperialist superpower America against the USSR. Even now all the western channels that highlight the human rights issue in other countries like the Uyghurs issue in China have never bothered to look at their own country and leaders and how their foreign policies ruined the economies of third world countries. Their main goal is to disturb the country internally to win the ongoing economic war and who else can play a key role other than media?
