The narrowing of the gender gap among voters in Pakistan is a significant and commendable development, as highlighted by the latest statistics released by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP, 2023). Since the 2018 general elections, the addition of 11.74 million female voters to the electoral rolls has contributed greatly to this positive change, surpassing the 9.28 million male voters added during the same period.

This achievement has elevated the total number of registered voters in the country to approximately 127 million, a substantial increase from the previous count of 106 million.
Such progress in gender gap equality within the voting population is not only a testament to the efforts of the ECP but also to the broader societal shift towards recognizing and promoting the importance of women’s participation in the democratic process.

It reflects a more inclusive and representative democracy, where the voices and choices of both men and women can contribute to shaping the nation’s future. This development underscores the need for continued efforts to ensure equal political participation for all citizens, regardless of gender, and to foster a more inclusive and vibrant democracy in Pakistan.
