The hidden network: Unveiling the mysterious Dark Web

The Dark web is the portion of the internet that is not easily accessible and is used for illegal activities. The 1990s are when the dark web first started to emerge. It was developed by the United States Naval Research Laboratory (NLV) as a way to give government organizations secure and private communication. But over time, it transformed into a network where malicious users could access secret websites and carry out illicit activities.

The web is a hidden corner of the internet where people can hide their identities and engage in illegal activities. It is a platform on the internet where individuals are involved in illegal activities such as buying and selling drugs, weapons, hacking, illegal trading, trafficking, stolen data, illegal pornography, and live torture. 4-5% content of the internet is on the surface web.

Whereas 94-95% are on the web. Millions of people access the dark web daily through different browsers that are hidden and require specific software configurations or authorization to access it. The data search and transfer remain secure and anonymous as it is important to note that authorities or government do not have the right to monitor or investigate your dark web activity. However, all activities on the dark web are not illegal.

It is also used by individuals who emphasize privacy and security such as many journalists and political parties and activists, they can communicate and share information without any fear of being monitored and censored. A red room is a stream or live video chat room where viewers pay to watch violence, murder, and rape performed on the victim.

It also works as a marketplace where people buy and sell legal and illegal goods and services including medicines, drugs, hacking tools, etc. The dark web is frequently used by cybercriminals to buy and sell stolen data, including credit card numbers, personal information, and login details. It is used by some terrorist organizations and extremist groups for hiring and communication. Due to their centralized nature, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are frequently used for transactions on the dark web because they add a layer of security.
