Besides its strategic significance due to its prime location in the heart of the world’s three nuclear powers, Gultari Valley offers nature lovers scenic beauty treasures which are untapped.
The scenic beauty of the Gultari region is unmatched, as lofty mountains, mostly covered with a blanket of snow, lush green fields, neat and clean waterfalls, rivers and streams, protected wildlife, a naturally balanced Eco system, muddy houses, centuries-old traditions, local foods, etc have the potential for the vibrant tourists’ attraction, but unfortunately, this beauty is still out of sight and mind in this digital age.
The region has been a flashpoint of border conflicts between Pakistan and India – the two South Asian nuclear rivals since they emerged as sovereign states as part of the British withdrawal from the Indian subcontinent back in 1947.
Gultari Chota Deosai plateau offers all the aforementioned natural sceneries but is still hidden from the eyes of tourists from all over the world including Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan. The time has come for steps to be taken at the government level to unravel these beautiful landscapes to the world.
The border Tehsil of Gultari, including Chota Deosai has many breathtaking views, including mountains, rivers, lakes, streams, waterfalls, icy peaks, and lush green fields. Anyone who visits is enchanted by the pristine beauty of the area. However, as the connections are growing, new beautiful sights hidden from the world are becoming the center of attention of tourists.
In such a situation, the natural landscapes of Gultari Valley are also being captured in the eyes of mobile cameras and are going viral on social media. The valley of Gultari is adorned with beauty in the south of Skardu and the east of Astor. If you step on the Deosai, the roof of the world, and drive for about two hours, you can fully enjoy the views of this beautiful valley.
The Gultari Valley has an element of uniqueness from other valleys in its beauty. From December to April, this valley shows its appearance in full white chador, so in these months, white will be seen everywhere.
When the month of April begins, the valley turns from white into lush green and will continue till August. The granary-like environment lasts from April to August. In September, October, and November, the valley will be seen in saffron color.
There are beautiful lakes in this valley, waterfalls, lush fields, dense forests, clear spring water, open plains, and snowy high mountains, this is the combination of beauty in Gultari Valley.
But Alas, the governments, including the locals, have not paid much attention to its beauty. In fact, it is difficult to pin the blame on the people as they are more concerned about the necessities of life, turning their backs on the valley and moving to other cities to improve their standard of living.
If the government pays close attention and with the coordination of the Pakistan Army can make the valley a hub of tourism, which will not only improve the living standards of the people here but also provide a huge amount of money to the national treasury and new tourism chapter will begin in Gilgit-Baltistan.
