Since the birth of Pakistan, the nation has been facing conflicts and disputes. The conflicts have been of certain nature based on ethno-racial identities and politico-religious ideologies etc. these ideologies are rioting the personality of individuals at the social level. Ethnicities form the basic and collective identities of the individual. When there is no tolerance or patience to accept others, along with their identities, it always comes up in the form of aggression, violence, and rotting.
The question prompts in our minds why such ideologies are strengthening the roots of extremism. Why it is getting more robust with each and every passing day? Was there any problem with upbringing? Is there a flaw in the education system that can’t teach basic moral values of tolerance?
These cases were never the same before. Spring is around the corner and students came back from their vacations to take a new start for new semesters. A clash that happened at Quaid e Azam University has raised serious concern which took place between Pashtuns and Baluchi students on Monday. According to the QS ranking of universities, Quaid e Azam University is who comes from far-flung and remote areas to get access to quality education across the country the only prestigious and top university in Pakistan among the top 500. There are students and a border. When we attach certain ethnicity to a person or group, we define them in a preconceived frame.
As Pashtuns are generally considered aggressive and militant in nature so conflicts are often associated with them. The sense of belongings in our region and identity creates the differences. It is all right and natural to have a sense of attachment to its origin as long as it creates a sense of alienation. This is creating a marker or “boundary line”. Therefore these terms carry a lot of meanings and objectives when Pashtun and Pashtuns start talking about themselves and others in terms of “We and us “with “others and them”. We should blur this line and live in peace and harmony. It sent a bad image to the international community.
Before the questions may be multifold many times and leave unsaid answers. We as a nation are in dire need to revisit the moral standards and the education we are feeding to our young minds. The youth is around more than half a percent of the population. There should be strict action against those who violated the rules and laws in institutions so that peace is restored.
Let us join the hands
To break the chains of Slavery,
The slavery of ethnicity
The Slavery of caste & Origin
The slavery of “You” & “Me”
Which keeps us enraged and furious;
Mad and violent; aggressive and annoying;
Let us join hands;
To ensure peace and harmony;
To spread love and affection;
To create Justice and equality
Beyond the walls & boundaries; borders & prisons
