Role of Tourism in Economic Development of Pakistan

Find out world's tourism based economies

Tourism is a sector that does not spend much but it gives a lot to the country. Every country has a lot already in place, some natural and some historical. Naturally like mountains, rivers, and beautiful places, etc., and historically like historical buildings, forts, ancient mosques and places of worship, etc. By paying little attention to these resources already available in the country, the tourism sector can grow and prove to be very beneficial for the economy of the state.

If the tourism sector is promoted, it brings a lot of benefits to the country’s economy and plays an important role in strengthening the country’s economy. There are many countries whose economies are running solely on tourism and they are very prosperous. Nature has blessed Pakistan with many blessings. Pakistan has many opportunities and resources for development, especially in the tourism sector. Pakistan is a country in which all the natural landscapes, which exist in different countries of the world, are all with Pakistan alone. That is, in Pakistan, beautiful and the highest mountains in the world, vast areas covered with lush fields and lush gardens, charming beaches, deserts, and forests, so Pakistan has all the resources that are rarely available in different countries of the world. Similarly, if we talk about historical resources, there are small and big historical places in almost all the cities of Pakistan. Every city has a garden, historical building, historical mosque, ancient forts, etc.

Fortunately, Pakistan also has traces of the world’s oldest civilizations, which are available to only a few countries in the world. There are traces of the oldest civilizations of Gandhara, Mohenjo-Daro, and Harappa, which tell about the lifestyle of ancient man for thousands of years. Tourists from many countries of the world come to see them with enthusiasm. Similarly, archeological researchers of the world are also very interested in these civilizations. Two of the second largest peaks in the world are located in Pakistan and besides this, the highest peaks have been given to Pakistan by Allah Almighty.

If the government had paid attention to the tourism sector, perhaps Pakistan would have been the largest tourist country in the world. All the cities of Pakistan have some level of tourist attractions. Some are beautiful parks, some are beautiful mosques, and some are the oldest buildings and forts. All these buildings need to be renovated and made tourist-friendly. They can be made more attractive for tourists by building small parks around them according to their capacity. It should be the responsibility of all the district governments to prepare lists of such tourist and historical places in their respective districts and plan how they can be made more interesting.

Apart from this, facilities should be provided especially to tourists in the northern regions and coastal regions. The best and cheap transport should be arranged for them. There should be international quality hotels for accommodation and food, paved and beautiful roads to all tourist spots, and where roads cannot be built, beautiful and quality footpaths should be built. The provision of security for foreign tourists should be ensured. These are all the facilities that cost very little but they play an excellent role in the promotion of tourism in the country. Due to these facilities, all the resources that are already present in a country, start to be exposed to the world, thus tourists come in droves and the economy of the country starts to improve. People get numerous employment opportunities and their standard of living increases.

The government should pay special attention to the tourism sector and start working on it as soon as possible by utilizing all state resources and resources for the development of this sector. This work should have been done many decades ago, but unfortunately, our incompetent and malicious rulers have not paid special attention to this sector, due to which we have been deprived of benefiting from the bounties of nature. However, even now if attention is paid to it, it will also be a great fortune for us.
