Speaking Truth to Oppressed

Materialism and today’s society

“The best things in life are not things.” There is a great deal to be said about this simple but very true statement.

We all live in a materialistic society where the larger part of individuals is more concerned with what it has than who they are. There’s as well much accentuation nowadays on the brand of dress you’re wearing, what car you’re driving and what you’ve got in common. A few individuals see others that live in luxury and think that they are living a more joyful life than theirs. This is the impression that society inserts in our heads that leads to numerous of us investing our lives chasing cash instead of happiness.

Just for making money many are struggling to be in a position that in reality is outlandish to be in. I am not saying that it is bad to have pleasant things, but in the event that having them is your need, it may be time to reassess. Our society places more esteem on how much cash we have and realism than on achievements and individuals themselves. Our achievements are evaluated according to what we have. Why is this? Imagine if you have earned everything in life but still you are not happy, then what is the use of this money?
Unfortunately, people will always chase money and power, and those who have will try to get more. This money mentality taught us to love things and use people. While people were born to love and things were created to be used. The reason our society is soiled in chaos and disarray is that we adore things ready to use people.

Materialism has not only changed our psyche but also has a major impact on our social life. Today, everyone is running for money. This mindset involves a rational calculation of costs and benefits between people. Their relationship is based on money. Social cohesion is now almost gone. Trade networks are spreading across the globe, but social ties are weakening. Of course, this symbolic world binds us together as described above but at the same time in search of new innovations, food, money, and connections we lost our original essence “Sense of joy”. With the passage of time, the value of man decreased and the value of money increased. Now the meaning of happiness, honor, and success are associated with money. The more money you have, the more successful, happy, and respected you are in society. Social status is combined with ranks.

“Things and people become evaluated not in terms of their qualities, but in terms of their quantities”.
