Speaking Truth to Oppressed

Review: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

“Man sees dreams and then wants to fulfill them, but one thing he does not do is ‘try’.”

He does not try because he has a fear of failure, the pressure of society, and criticism from people. Above all, the sufferings that will come during the fulfillment of the dream.

If you dream and want to fulfill them, then you will have to make a relationship with suffering and pains. Allah’s law is such that you cannot reach your destination without going through trials.

One of the tragedies of our society is that we have been long-distance travelers, not because we have stopped reading books, but because we have stopped making observations. It decorates dreams, keeps them alive, and motivates you to fulfill them.

In this novel, the love of books is described and the love is such that one is not aware of the passing world. Man makes observations and experiences and then leaves them in the form of books for new seekers. Man learns knowledge either from books or from observations. Both of these things are best explained in this book.

But alas, now is the age where people prefer to watch a three-hour movie instead of devoting an hour to a book every day and spending many hours watching short videos. However, what you can learn from a book, you can never learn from a movie based on the same book. The world of imagination that you will go to by reading the book, the movie will never be able to give you.

If you dream, then love books, these books play a good role in making dreams come true.

This is the story of a young man who travels to fulfill his dream, he is afraid of failure, then he learns to overcome the fear of failure, which voice to listen to the heart and which one not to listen to when a person achieves the goal. If he travels towards it, then Allah shows him signs to recognize these signs. All this he learns by meditation.

If you also have a goal, dream, or desire that is difficult to take steps to fulfill, then you should read this novel.

Another thing that can be learned from this novel is that the boy becomes a shepherd to fulfill his desire, that is, if you have to put on any form to achieve your goal, then don’t be shy to take that form. No matter how handicapped you are and when you strive with all your heart to achieve your goal, nature also makes arrangements for help, the only condition being that you have to work sincerely.

Some dialogues that I liked from the novel:

1. When you set your mind to something, everything in the universe becomes your supporter.

2. Look at the splendor of the world but don’t forget the oil in the spoon.

3. If God can show the way to the sheep, then how can he leave man to go astray?

4. What would this wealth be for you if you were not alive?

5. Whoever interferes with the destination of something else will never reach his destination.

6. The heart mostly helps those who are looking for their destination.

7. If Hope grows stronger every moment in search of your destination, your heart is alive.

8. Those people wanted to get wealth but did not want to work hard for it.

9. Men think more about returning home after leaving it.

10. I have come in search of a destination, but you will not understand this when it’s time to eat, think only about food, and when it’s time to travel, think only about travel
