Humanitarian challenges in Ukraine

The world has witnessed the surge in humanitarian challenges owing to the changing dynamics of the globe. Be it Afghanistan or Ukraine, these countries have been witnessing severe humanitarian challenges. In case of Ukraine, the country has been witnessing the violent fighting since the start of 2022. This fighting has led to humanitarian crises. As a result of the war, around 5 million people have become refugees and many have become internally displaced.

Moreover, it has been observed that around thousands of people have been displaced from their homes and require humanitarian aid. The effects of the war are being felt miles away in Ukraine. The war has damaged the country’s infrastructure and the country’s economy has suffered greatly. The country’s health system was also very unstable due to Covid-19 and has been greatly weakened due to the war. As a result of the war, hospitals and ambulances have been destroyed. This war is considered as the second largest and fastest humanitarian crisis after the World war 2.

On the account of World Humanitarian Day, it is essential to recognise the humanitarian challenges being faced by the people in war torn countries. Humanitarian assistance is the key to protect the human rights of the people living in difficult situations. It is essential to financially support all the humanitarian workers who are working selflessly to protect the lives of people in disputed areas.
