Aftermarket window tinting applies a thin film to the interior surface of a vehicle’s windows. This material is meant to darken a car’s windows to dam ultraviolet light and turn down the glare from the sun and headlights. Car window tint film is out there in a variety of materials and shades. In a country like Pakistan, the tinted car windows are very common most civilians tinted their car windows but this is illegal in the country as the law didn’t allow them to do this thing. A few years ago, native authorities set to ban tinted car windows, hoping it might curb traffic and also the rampant legal violations within the metropolitan town.
Ever since then, Karachi’s traffic police department has launched multiple grand operations to reprimand offenders of the traffic law, stopping drivers, issuing fines, and stripping the tinted film off their windows. Using tinted glasses for vehicles is against the law and prohibited. All such permissions issued were canceled in 2018. Any personal vehicle still having tinted glasses is committing a crime. The permission letters usually being displayed are sham. Motorists using tinted windows due to health problems, as well as sensitive skin, would be asked to travel for alternatives. imported vehicles having 35pc and 65pc tinted windows could also be issued permits once they approach the workplace of the deputy commissioner.
In extreme Summer what other option do we have to go for a 25 % tinted glass with shades? Targeting ordinary citizens and leaving 100 % tinted glass VIPs is criminal and it’s extremely difficult to drive in this heat without any shade or tint. What’s ironic is that elite vehicles that are fully tinted and rule violators have a full-time driver. We are living in two countries where the policy is different for the common man and there is no policy for the elite. Allow individuals to own at least some extent of tints to dam daylight. Our summers are extremely hot. Our sun is bright as hell.
People don’t simply get their cars tinted so that they will desire a feeling of being VIP. Many of them are trying to decrease daylight within the cabin. Taking action against tinted glasses to eliminate high-up culture? How does it happen when you only stop small vehicles with 25% tint and can’t even stop the big ones with full tint? Double standards of the policymakers are on display here. On top of all, this is useless action, why? because if you apply those shades the VTL of a shade, which is legal, is less than that of a 25 percent tint meaning you can see more inside and out of the car with a 25 percent tint than a shade, which also makes shades extremely dangerous. Plus why don’t they go after vendors selling it openly across Islamabad? Why not address the basis cause and prime reasons behind it if they’re so serious and anxious regarding it? I used to be told by an enclosed Ministry source that a large range of vehicles employed by police isn’t even lawfully cleared by custom, excise & different government departments, and their branches especially bulletproof brought via Afghanistan and in use under very senior officials. Even a large number of government employees damage a car by accident or the same is stolen or even sold by them in parts. After years, if at all any government official asks for the return of the same, they simply buy a Kabuli car of the same model and then put that number plate of government on it to return.
