Indian man murders partner then kept her body in fridge. A man was detained in the Indian city of Dehli for reportedly killing his live-in partner and continuing to drive through the country’s capital with her body next to him for about 40 kilometres before stuffing her body in a refrigerator at his dhaba (restaurant) in southwest Delhi.

According to a preliminary investigation by Indian police officials, Sahil Gehlot, a 26-year-old suspect, killed his girlfriend named Nikki Yadav on the night between February 9 and 10 before getting married the following day to a different woman.

Special Commissioner of Indian Police (Crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav told Indian media that on February 10, Nikki’s family approached the police after they failed to contact her for the last 24 hours. The police reached Sahil’s dhaba (restaurant) after they traced the deceased’s phone to the location.

The body was found intact inside the refrigerator and had started decomposing at a slow pace as told by police, adding only strangulation marks were found on her body.

Four days after Sahil killed Nikki, put her body in a refrigerator at his restaurant, and sealed the dhaba (restaurant) ever since the occurrence, the incident was discovered on Valentine’s Day (February 14th).

“During interrogation, the accused initially tried to mislead police, but later he disclosed that he killed his girlfriend on the intervening night of February 9 and 10 and kept her body in a refrigerator at his dhaba (eatery),” the officer said.

Further investigation revealed that after Nikki learnt of her partner’s wedding plans, she and the alleged murderer Sahil got into a fight. Sahil then made a date request of Nikki, and the two went for a drive. Later, using a cellphone charger to kill his live-in partner, Sahil continued to drive for over 40 kilometres (km) in Delhi while carrying her body next to him.

The 26-year-old suspect claimed to have met the victim, Nikki Yadav, in 2018 at a coaching facility. They began dating a while after that, and they eventually moved in together in a leased home.

Sahil Gahlot claimed that his family was pressuring him to wed a different woman. Last but not least, the engagement and marriage of the accused were fixed for February 9 and 10, respectively.

Sahil disclosed to the police that he killed Nikki with a data cable kept in his car and after dumping the victim’s body, Sahil went back to his home and solemnised his marriage with another woman.

A case was booked against Sahil under sections 302 and 201 under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
