The Hindu extremist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continues to make false assertions about historical Muslim heritage sites in India, most recently the majestic Taj Mahal, for its alleged origins in early Hindu rule, continuing the agenda that resulted in the destruction of the Babri Masjid 30 years ago.
In a recent writ suit, a BJP legislator urged the creation of a fact-finding committee to investigate the Taj Mahal’s “true history” in order to declare the UNESCO World Heritage site to be a Hindu temple.
Modi’s close advisor and Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister, Yogi Adityanath, is leading the effort to remove Muslim identity by changing the names of districts and villages with Muslim origins.

As BJP to ‘claim’ Taj Mahal considering it as Hindu Monument, a serious self-reflection is required at both the national and international levels due to the unfortunate fact that the rest of the world has chosen to ignore the widespread atrocities carried out by India’s BJP regime, which is driven by Hindutva, against Muslims and other minorities.
