Thousands of people have come to the streets in Lahore, expressing support and solidarity with Iran for the “genocidal” dictatorship in Israel.
People from all walks of life took part in the large march, which was headed by eminent Pakistani Shia cleric Allamah Syed Jawad Naqvi and crossed over sectarian and ideological divides.
Thousands of Shias and Sunnis joined the event, which took place on Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam, formerly known as Mall Road, one of Lahore’s busiest streets.
Participants chanted slogans condemning Israel’s uncontrolled assault in the occupied Palestinian areas, as well as its danger to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“The threat to Iran is a threat to all Muslim countries,” Naqvi said at the protest, confirming Pakistani people’s support for Iran’s leadership and people.
Many leaders from both communities spoke during the gathering, expressing their support for the Islamic Republic against what they described as Tel Aviv’s “genocidal” dictatorship.
They also chastised Arab states for betraying the Palestinian cause by declaring the normalization of diplomatic relations with Israel’s regime and demanded that the agreements be promptly terminated.
A top cleric spoke at the gathering, emphasizing the necessity of creating unity and foiling Israel’s and the hegemonic Western governments’ dark machinations against Muslims.
The senior cleric emphasized the importance of tighter ties between the two Muslim countries of Iran and Pakistan in order to counter the threat presented by the Tel Aviv administration and its allies to the world of Islam.
Thousands join the rally in Lahore in support of Iran against Israel.
The demonstration coincided with the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) summit in Islamabad, which was attended by top diplomats and representatives of many Muslim countries.
Hossein Amirabdollahian, Iran’s foreign minister, also attended the event. He also met Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa on the sidelines of the summit.
Tensions between Iran and the Tel Aviv administration have risen recently, particularly in the wake of a fresh round of talks in Vienna aimed at lifting US sanctions.
While engaging in brinkmanship and war-mongering with Iran, the Israeli leadership has encouraged Western parties to the accord against reducing or lifting sanctions on Iran.
Nour News, which is associated with Iran’s main security organization, reported on Sunday that an unnamed security official said the Israeli regime is considering military action against Iran, and that Iran will respond forcefully.
On a recent visit to the United States, Israeli regime war minister Benny Gantz briefed Pentagon commander Lloyd Austin on Israeli troops’ preparations and rehearsals for a possible military assault against Iran.
If the diplomatic attempts in Vienna fail, Austin has warned to employ “additional steps.”
