20 killed in Maharashtra during Ganesh Idol Ceremonies
Mumbai: During the Immersion of Ganesh idols in several parts of Maharashtra, at least 20 people died and 14 of them drowned in different occurrences.
The festival was 10 days long & ended on Friday. Multiple casualties are being reported from different parts of Maharashtra. The officials have confirmed that 3 people drowned in district Wardha while 2 in Yawatmal district.
2 more people drowned in Ahmednagar district but in different incidents. In even Jalgaon district in Maharashtra, two people died. One died in Ghodegaon & similarly one in District Pune.
Apart from these drowning incidents, 4 people died in road accidents in Nagpur City.
one of the most prominent incidents happened in Kolpad area where a 55-year-old woman died after a tree fell near their house because of the festival’s crowd. 4 people were injured in the incident.

“A huge tree fell while the aarti of lord Ganesh idol was on as part of its immersion,” confirmed a duty officer.
In the district of Panvel, 11 people died because of an electric shock including a 9-month-year-old child.
Many other incidents too were reported during the entire Immersion festival from different parts of the state.
The police, however, believe that like every year, this year too we got the opportunity to serve the devotees enthusiastically.
