Beijing: 46 People died in southwestern China
The southwestern part of China was hit with 6.6 magnitude of earthquake on Monday. Around 46 people died in this naturally devastating occurrence. Numerous homes got damaged & even got electricity deprived because of the devastating ripple effect of the massive earthquake.
The earthquake was reported to have covered around 46 kilometers of the southwestern city called Kingding. The ripple effect & tremors shook the capital of the province Chengdu & have resulted in millions of people confined to their homes. The residents of the neighborhood in Chengdu have expressed their shock about the magnitude of the earthquake.
“My neighbors on the ground floor & I felt the it exceedingly strong. Now, the situation is because people of Chengdu are still under the epidemic rules by the management, so we are not allowed to leave our houses as yet.” Said by a Chengdu resident.

Post the earthquake incident on Monday, several reports of the repercussions have been received. One town has been severely affected with landslides triggering, telecommunication lines have been cut, the road to another town has been shut. This is near the town where around 10,000 people are confined to their homes. Yet not technology or connection is there for them.
According to the local broadcaster, the authorities, however, has sent hundreds of rescue workers along with tents, Blankets & foldable beds. There’s also a supply of food & other necessary materials. The Chengdu government has extended the lockdown partially because of the earthquake but also of the rising covid-19 cases in the area.
