On Monday, the Minister for Defence, Khawaja Asif, advocated cutting the number of working days in a week from five to four and a half in order to assist preserve fuel and energy in the face of rising fuel costs and a lack of electricity.
The minister of defence turned to Twitter to provide some solutions to the growing problem of inadequate supply of electricity and excessive use of gasoline. He said that “in the existing condition, everywhere over the nation, there should be a full holiday on Saturday and Sunday and a half working day on Friday in every week.” This refers to the current situation in which there is a whole holiday on Saturday and Sunday.
He suggested that there should be 4.5 working days in a week rather than the current 5. “Also, the office hours that are in effect throughout the working days need to be extended by one hour. There would be less congestion on the roadways, which will result in savings of oil and power. Additionally, it will assist in the dissemination of a culture of frugality,” he said.
