The Senate Standing Committee on Defence met on Friday and was given a comprehensive briefing on the causes of India’s missile launch on March 9 and the events that followed.
The committee members expressed concern about India’s incompetence and malice, adding that the failure of the Indian military system could have resulted in a major tragedy.
“This could have resulted in a very serious accident with a civilian plane or other consequences,” the committee members said, condemning the international community’s double standards, particularly those of India’s western patrons.
They also condemned the international community’s silence on India’s act against Pakistan, praising the Pakistan Armed Forces’ readiness and preparedness to defend the motherland against any aggression.
“The armed forces responded fully to the Indian aggression in Balakot in February 2019,” committee members stated.
The defense standing committee was also briefed on the strategic significance of modern Chinese J-10C aircraft recently inducted into the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).
“Pakistan is the first country to receive J-10C aircraft from China,” military officials told the committee, thanking China for its strategic cooperation and partnership with Pakistan.
“China always supports Pakistan in all fields. The induction of J-10C aircraft into the PAF will thwart India’s designs in an effective way. Pakistan now has the capability of a strong, strategic deterrence,” it was said during the briefing.
The committee was briefed by Lieutenant General Hilal Hussain, the additional secretary of defense, and other senior officials.
